Online Learning
Are you new to online learning?
The School of Continuing Education (SCE) offers courses online through Sakai, our Learning Management System (LMS). Online courses are just as rigorous as on-campus courses, and offer you the convenience of “attending” class from home. At PC SCE we are focused on providing a rich academic experience while ensuring the safety of our community, so you can keep moving forward toward your goals even despite the pandemic. That’s why during the upcoming semester, courses will be offered in a variety of new formats to allow for increased online learning and social distancing:
DISTANCE LEARNING – SYNCHRONOUS
Class meets live via Zoom on designated days and times
DISTANCE LEARNING – ASYNCHRONOUS
Coursework is completed online, with no live meetings
HYBRID – SYNCHRONOUS
Class meets live via Zoom on designated days and times, and on campus on a handful of designated days
HYBRID – ASYNCHRONOUS
Coursework is completed online, along with on-campus class meetings on a handful of designated days
FLX or “Split”
Classes are held on campus, but also streamed so that students may attend remotely through Zoom. If you plan to attend a class under the FLX plan, please email the instructor.
CLASSROOM BASED
Class meets on campus. Face masks and adherence to social distancing and health guidelines are required. All classrooms will be configured to allow for proper social distancing among students and faculty.
Online tutoring support:
The Tutoring and Writing Centers can help you excel and achieve your academic goals, and you can schedule and attend appointments online when you visit the Office of Academic Services webpage. In the tutoring center, you can meet with a subject area tutor or with a strategist tutor who can help you sharpen your study strategies. And in the writing center, writing consultants will help you at any stage in the writing process – whether you’re brainstorming or polishing up a final draft.
