Biography:

Kirtley Fisher is the Associate Chief of Staff in the Office of the Commissioner at the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (RIDE). She oversees special projects and the implementation of the agency’s strategic plan. Previously, she worked as an Experience Design Leader at the nonprofit Business Innovation Factory, where she developed and tested human-centered solutions to pressing social issues in education and health care, including a design thinking program for educators. For ten years, she worked as a legislative aide for Congressman Jim Langevin (RI-02) and advised him on issues that included education, economic development, and children and families. She is also a Special Lecturer at Providence College’s School of Continuing Education and teaches the Leadership and Diversity course. She received a B.A. in International Studies from Emory University and an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, focusing on systems change and implementing innovative concepts.
