Biography: Holding a B.A. in Mathematics with a minor in Economics, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and an M.A.T. in Mathematics, Elena Kojoian has worked as an engineer in various capacities. In the Weapons Division at the Naval Underwater Systems Center in Newport, she conducted experiments involving underwater signals transmission and reception across thermal plumes for the purpose of identifying and protecting non-targets; at Brown and Sharpe, she was responsible for programming and troubleshooting software and hardware of robotic coordinate measuring machines, both with probes and lasers, which are used to measure for quality control purposes. As a teacher, she taught in public and Catholic schools, writing the mathematics curriculum for the PEGASUS program at LaSalle Academy and also teaching in the high school. She has taught courses at Rhode Island College and at Providence College. She homeschooled her children through high school, and they now attend graduate school.
